Your community for neurodivergent and autistic children families in Ohio, Northern Kentucky!
Welcome to Friends Along a Path, a space dedicated to celebrating and supporting neurodivergent individuals and the autistic community. We believe that neurological differences are a natural and valuable part of human diversity. Our mission is to enrich lives by providing an inclusive community, tailored programs, and vital resources where everyone can thrive exactly as they are. Together, we are building a world that embraces neurodiversity and honors the unique strengths of every individual.
How we support your family
Families of neurodivergent individuals often isolate themselves because they are tired of the stares, whispers, or unsolicited parenting advice in public spaces.
-
Sensory-Friendly Activities: Host events where the environment is controlled—lowered lighting, reduced volume, and a designated "quiet zone" or sensory decompression room with fidgets, weighted blankets, and noise-canceling headphones.
-
The "Come As You Are" Policy: Explicitly tell families that meltdowns, vocalizations, stimming (like hand-flapping or pacing), and using communication devices are completely welcome. When parents know they don't have to apologize for their child, they can finally relax.
-
Adaptive Recreation: Modify games, sports, and crafts so that everyone can participate at their own developmental level, focusing on fun and connection rather than rigid rules.
"Friends Along A Path has been a lifeline for our family. The resources are invaluable, and the events bring so much joy to our son. We finally feel truly connected and supported."
